Prototype 2 - Fresh preview from the Gamescom



On the Gamescom Activision presented Prototype 2 with a real action fireworks and of course I was on the spot to give me (and you) an impression of the gameAnyone who is squeamish and for them a lot of blood, guts and exaggerated depiction of violence are too hard, should not click on it better. But action fans are invited cordially...

New York is once again properly all hell broke loose, because even in Prototype 2 will be capitalized action and destruction. 14 months after Alex Mercer avoid the atomization of New York City, could the infection still rages on the streets of the city. And it has formed a new zone, the Yellow Zone. Again a reminder, the first prototype, there was an infected zone, a non-infected zone and sometimes overlapped, so that these zone was a contested zone. In Prototype the embattled areas were completely replaced by the Yellow Zone. In addition to the Yellow Zone, which consists of slums with infected individuals, where the infection has not broken out yet, there's the Green Zone in which the non-infected New Yorkers normally live on and the red zone through which the infection has completely taken control.
While Genteks scientists do partially experiments with the infected in the Yellow zone, Blackwatch sends only its best soldiers in the Red Zone. One of those soldiers was Sgt. James Heller, the new protagonist of the game. Heller has been infected by Alex Mercer himself with the virus and is therefore not just to speak well of him. And as his "former" employer not only now but also Mercer chasing him, means that Heller is against the rest of the world.




Many of the skills of Alex Mercer were transferred onto the James Heller. Including the claws, the armor and the sword arm. Because Heller is a soldier, his weapons looks a bit different naturally than those of Alex Mercer. For example, one of the attending developers told me that the sword of his sword arm will have small teeth as the combat knife to the U.S. Army and the claws, which were presented to me at the screening of the game, looked a little more metallic as those of Alex Mercer. In addition to the "old" skills Heller now has some new, including an ultrasound which reminded me a little of the eagle eye of Assassins Creed.
Another innovation is that Heller may have always selected two abilities at the same time. During the presentation, these were the nails and iron fist (both weapons known from the first part), with which Heller was initially jumped off a high building and a powerful blow on the ground executed the enemies around him bursting literally, order to then with his claws processed all survivors into "ground beef". Also new is that the player can grad a person with Heller (holds it up), the election is if he is annexed to accept her appearance or whether he simply leaves open and if he is sometimes angry at them, he may also miss her a beautiful free-flight time. In the previous model you were only able to kill people.




The fighting in Prototype 2 differ not from those of the first grand and the mission which has been presented to me reminded me of the mission of the predecessor. Overall, the action of the game has not changed much, so I will not say that the game has not evolved or the action of the First would have needed to evolve further. Also in Prototype 2 grew a wide grin on my face when I saw how James Heller grabbed the barrel of a tank at the top to beat the lower part of it.
And the Air Force were not safe from him, he jumped up and grabbed and pulled the helicopter to get him with his own Rocket Launcher and with this he got the helicopter from the sky. What the developers could tell about the story was that there will probably also be a showdown between Alex Mercer and James Heller. Otherwise they could not tell a lot to me.




Result
Although the game appears only on 24.4.2012, but the demo which has been presented to me was already very good. The game has also developed the graphics, but the style is still the same as in the previous presentation and the degree of violence has not decreased. Prototype 2 is in no way inferior to its predecessor, as much as I can tell already. Great progress over the previous prototype has'nt made ​​yet, but this even don't need the game. A prototype is simply the brutal anti-hero version of a Superman.


What the developers have promised to me once more is, that they want to do the balancing in Prototype 2 better than in the First. In the predecessor was the game so that it was still very easy to start, but towards the end it was too heavy. In Prototype 2 they want to make this criticism from the world by giving the game a constant difficulty. If Prototype 2 is really that what Activision promises, we are all experienced well in 2012.
